Anti-Viral Essential Oils
From LoveToKnow Herbs
During the cold season, and even the rest of the year, anti-viral essential oils are the perfect compliment to a healthy lifestyle.
Your Healthy Lifestyle & Essential Oils
Essential oils rock. Many people use them with great success at treating all sorts of problems, and to ward off issues. However, like traditional medications and vitamins they can only provide so much anti-viral protecting.
To avoid getting sick, you can’t just rely on one item, like anti-viral oils. You need to also have healthy lifestyle habits such as:
- Don’t smoke.
- Don’t drink to an excess.
- Do wash your hands frequently, especially when family members are ill.
- Don’t just eat junk food – try hard to get six or more organic fruits and veggies a day.
- Do replace your toothbrush after a bout with an illness or cold.
- Don’t char, crisp in oil, or grill all your foods. This creates an unhealthy free radical situation in your body.
- Do get plenty of sleep.
If you’re following all of the above than anti-viral essential oils can be a nice compliment to your lifestyle.

Ways To Use Anti-Viral Oils
First up you should always check with your health care professional, holistic medicine specialist, or other health professional before using essential oils. Unless you have years of experience and are well-versed in oil interactions and reactions, you need to consult someone before using them. It’s also wise to use only pure, organic essential oils to be sure you get the full health benefits.
To utilize a specific mix of essential oils you should learn the best route from a professional in herbs, oils, or holistic medicine, or check your favorite essential oil reference book. One great guide book with essential oil remedies is Aromatherapy: A Lifetime Guide to Healing With Essential Oils.
Essential oils can be used in the following ways:
- With massage
- Boiled to create a steam
- Used in a herb vaporizer
- Burned in essential oil diffusers
- Scrubbed on in the shower
- Added to a bath
- In candles and incense
- Made into herbal salve recipes
- Sprinkled on light bulbs
- Used as medicinal herb tinctures
- Air misted around a room – with a light mist water sprayer
You can also use essential oils in teas, or drink a few drops added to water. However, you really need to know what you’re doing before ever ingesting an essential oil. Most professionals don’t recommend it unless under careful supervision.
